Xlight is a Windows FTP and SFTP server to make file transfer secure and easy to use. It is a portable program with very low memory and CPU usage. The server is designed for high performance and can handle many FTP and SFTP connections.
Xlight FTP Server has many useful features and has a free edition for personal use. The program is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 10, 2003, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2019. The following are some of its features:
Integration with enterprise IT environment
Active Directory integration
Active Directory users can be easily integrated with Xlight to add FTP and SFTP functions. The user's home directory in Active Directory will be his FTP/SFTP home directory. The user has native home path isolation (he can not see other users' home paths).
LDAP integration
LDAP users can be authenticated and integrated with Xlight FTP and SFTP functions. FTP settings of users can be stored in the LDAP server through extended schema.
Database integration through ODBC
Xlight FTP and SFTP users and their settings can be stored in a database. File transfer logs can also be stored in a database for easy checking. Database Stored Procedure is supported to facilitate FTP and SFTP users' integration with other applications.
Explicit and Implicit SSL (FTPS)
FTP sessions and file transfers can be protected by industry security standards. SSL client authentication is also supported.
Support SFTP(SSH2) File Transfer Protocol
SFTP servers and users can be created and managed like FTP servers.
Support SSH public key authentication
Users can log in to the SFTP server using a Public key instead of a password.
Email Notification
Email can be sent after file uploading, downloading, user login and logout etc. Email recipients and content can be customized. Many email notification settings can be tweaked so that the server can send emails to different users based on different conditions.
UNC Path(shared network folder) Impersonation
FTP servers can use the impersonation account to access password-protected Network Shares in NAS or other Enterprise servers.
IPv6 Support
IPv6 is seamlessly integrated into all server functions.
Server log and audit
FTP sessions and errors log
Detailed logs of ftp sessions and server errors.
Store file transfer logs in the database
FTP/SFTP File transfer logs can be stored in the database. User file transfer history can be easily searched and retrieved.
Support UNIX FTP xferlog format

Send log to Syslog server
All server logs can be sent to the Syslog server at the same time.
Server administration
System Service
It can run as a Windows system service.
Support multiple virtual servers
FTP/SFTP virtual servers can be created on different ports and multiple virtual servers can run on the same IP address.
Native FTP/SFTP User Isolation
Each user has his virtual path separated from other users. A user cannot see other users' paths. No need to configure FTP User Isolation.
Hierarchy Virtual Paths
FTP/SFTP server supports public and group paths, which makes access control and permission management much easier. Group path can be seen only by users of a group, public path can be seen by all users.
GUI Remote Administration
The server can be securely administrated from outside and remote administration is firewall friendly. It can be performed from any opened FTP control port.
